What we do

When you arrive at one of our Emergency Departments (ED), you will be prioritised by our skilled triage staff. They will conduct a risk assessment to prioritise the most acutely unwell patients - life or limb-threatening illness – first.

If your condition is less urgent, you will be seen in medical priority order. All efforts will be made by our specialist team of doctors and nurses to see you in a reasonable time frame.

We ask you to please talk to triage with any concerns while waiting, particularly if you have a change in your condition.

If you are severely injured, in most cases, you will be taken to one of the major trauma centres in Melbourne. These include The Royal Melbourne, The Alfred or the Royal Children's Hospital.
