Overview
Western Health is part of the DonateLife Network — Australia’s coordinated system for organ and tissue donation. The network brings together DonateLife agencies, hospital‑based medical and nursing specialists and the national Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA) to increase donation rates and improve transplant outcomes.
Role of the Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA)
The OTA funds DonateLife agencies and hospital specialists in every state and territory, ensuring a nationally consistent approach in partnership with health departments, clinicians and community organisations.
Western Health donation specialists
Western Health has dedicated medical and nursing donation specialists who:
- advise and assist clinical teams
- support donor families throughout the donation process
- coordinate staff and community education on organ and tissue donation.
