What we do
Our Orthopaedics Unit cares for people of all ages with problems related to bones, joints and muscles. We are one of the largest and busiest orthopaedic departments in Victoria.
Our team offers care, assessment and treatment for a wide range of conditions that can cause pain, limit movement or affect your daily life.
Services and facilities
Common orthopaedic disorders
Orthopaedic disorders can be caused by injury, overuse, ageing or medical conditions. Some of the most common we see include:
- osteoarthritis
- fractures
- joint dislocations
- tendon or ligament injuries
- sports injuries
- spinal conditions.
Treatments we offer
Treatment depends on your condition, your needs and your goals. We work with you to find the best approach, which may include:
- physiotherapy and exercise programs
- medications to manage pain or inflammation
- joint injections for pain relief
- supports and braces to protect joints or aid healing
- surgery, when non-surgical options are not enough.
Orthopaedic surgery
If surgery is needed, our experienced team of orthopaedic surgeons will explain the procedure and what you can expect. Common surgeries include:
- joint replacements – for hips, knees and shoulders
- fracture repair – using plates, screws or rods to hold bones in place
- tendon and ligament repairs – such as ACL reconstructions.
