Where to find this service
What we do
The Western Health pharmacy service is made up of 3 pharmacy departments that services Footscray Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Williamstown Hospital.
Medicines are an important part of your care. We make sure that we use quality and safe medicines based on the latest research. If you are in hospital, the pharmacy department can:
- supply your regular medicines while you are in hospital
- provide new medicines that the doctors at hospital have prescribed
- speak to you about your medications during your hospital stay and provide extra information if requested
- provide education about your medicines when you go home.
When you go home from hospital we can provide:
- a list of medicines that you take for you and your GP (and local pharmacy if required)
- any new medicines for you to take home with you (the cost of these medicines will depend on whether you have a pension card and the type of medicine).
We provide dispensing, clinical pharmacy, manufacturing and quality use of medicines services to all inpatients. We also provide medicines prescribed in Western Health outpatient clinics.
In addition, we also have busy clinical trials, oncology and medicines information areas that support the service.
