Public Fertility Care

Western Health offers free fertility care through Victoria’s Public Fertility Service, including assessments, genetic counselling and treatment for eligible individuals and couples.

Who this service is for

This government-funded service is available to individuals and couples of any gender who:

  • have been trying to conceive without success
  • have a medical condition or life situation that may affect fertility or make pregnancy difficult
  • meet the eligibility criteria for the program.

How to get started

You’ll need a referral from your GP or specialist. The referral must include the results of relevant tests and investigations.

The Royal Women’s Hospital, which leads the Public Fertility Service, will review your referral. You’ll be contacted with an outcome as soon as possible.

If accepted, your appointments will be held at Western Health. You’ll only need to visit the Royal Women’s Hospital for any procedures.
