Giving circle

As a member of the Women+ for Western Health Giving Circle, your donation is pooled with other members’ gifts, to exponentially increase your impact. Together, you can make a significant contribution with greater impact, and collectively select a project to fund at Western Health.

We ask each member of the Giving Circle to commit a minimum donation of $1000 per year. Your annual donation can be made in one payment, spread over 12 monthly payments of $90 or fortnightly payments of $40. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.

Each year, Giving Circle members meet at Pitch Night. At this event, a series of short presentations are made by teams from across Western Health, outlining specific projects that align with Western Health’s Strategic Directions and how the funding will make an impact. Members then vote to determine which project they wish to support with this year's grant allocation.

Western Health encompasses a network of acute public hospitals in Melbourne's west, including Footscray Hospital, Sunshine Hospital, Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital, Williamstown Hospital and Bacchus Marsh Hospital, as well as some smaller scale health services. Western Health has a strong philosophy of working with the local community to deliver excellence in patient care. Our community is the fastest growing and most diverse in Victoria, with a population of over 1 million people and more that 110 different languages/dialects spoken. While government funding meets the everyday healthcare needs of our community, donations help us to innovate and provide a stronger healthcare system. Our challenge is to keep pace with the critical health needs of Melbourne’s west as it grows.

At Western Health, we are committed to equality of opportunity, to being inclusive, and to being a place where everyone is welcome. While the program is designed to bring together women+ in a collective giving model, this is an inclusive program, and members of all genders can join and donate.

The Women+ for Western Health Giving Circle has an ambitious goal: to build a community of women+ philanthropists who will pool their knowledge, resources and ideas to support and fund projects that will have a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the Western Health community.

We are a diverse group of socially-minded women+ with a passion for social justice and a deep desire to help the community of the west. We come together at Pitch Night, where we network and enjoy each other’s company, hear interesting presentations, and jointly decide which vital Western Health initiative we want to help. As a member of the Women+ for Western Health Giving Circle, you will be part of shaping the projects that will ensure a future full of promise for our community.

Each person is asked to commit to a minimum donation of $1,000 annually. This can be paid as a one-off donation or $90 per month or $40 per fortnight. A small additional cost applies to pledges to cover admin costs. All donations above $2 are fully tax-deductible. This donation also covers the cost of your attendance at Pitch Night, which includes dinner.

All gifts are paid into the Women+ for Western Health Giving Circle Fund managed by the Western Health Foundation.

The contributions are pooled to support high impact Western Health initiatives. These initiatives are presented at Pitch Night by teams from across Western Health, outlining how the funding will make an impact. The donors then vote to determine which project they wish to support with this year's grant allocation, ensuring our collective gift is going toward something that we all see as important and worthy.

Pitch Night is a dinner with presentations, held 12 September 2024. As a member of the Giving Circle, your Pitch Night ticket is covered.

While the program is designed to bring together women+ in a collective giving model, this is an inclusive program, and members of all genders can join and donate. We particularly welcome women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and those from diverse cultural backgrounds and abilities to become members of the Giving Circle. We believe diversity is representative of the community we serve and fosters the innovation our community needs.

Western Health Foundation reserves the right to update and change the Terms and Conditions for the Women of Western Health Giving Circle, at any time without notice.

• Donation payments will be deducted from your nominated accounted on the day you register online according to your payment preference.
• Pledge donation payments will continue to be deducted from your nominated account until your nominated Giving Circle membership end date.

A person is eligible to vote if they hold a membership for the current financial year.

• A member may at any time request that their membership be cancelled by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Cancellation of Women for Western Health Membership"
• No membership donations will be refunded for any reason, even if voting has not occurred for the current membership year
• In the case that the member has opted to pay their membership by instalments, payments will cease from the date the cancellation is requested only in the case where the member has not voted in the current membership year
• If the pitch event has been held for the current financial year instalments will continue until all pledges have been donated for the current membership year

The Western Health Foundation reserves the right to revoke membership status at any point in time. If this occurs all future payments will cease from the date of notification of the membership being revoked. No membership fees will be refunded.
