BreastWest 2018 A Great Success

26 Jul 2018 Community
This year's BreastWest Night of Nights raised $85,000 towards patient support. Held on Thursday 26 July at the Moonee Valley Racing Club, the event attracted 550 guests with tickets sold well in advance.

A highlight of the Foundation's fundraising event calendar – the night saw eleven breast cancer patients taking to the catwalk, escorted by players from the Western Bulldogs.

The evening provides an opportunity for patients to get glammed up for that one special night.

Here what some of our patients had to say about what being a part of BreastWest 2018 means to them.

On the night the BreastWest Scholarship was announced, providing funding to train up some of our nursing staff with the specialist skills required to become a Breast Care Nurse. This important clinical position plays a vital role in the wellbeing of our patients. The overwhelming feedback that we receive about the best way to provide support for those experiencing breast cancer, is the one-on-once are provided by these nurses.

Proceeds from BreastWest provide practical support for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment at Western Health such as care packs, household assistance and other services.
