Introduction
Grant Lodge is Western Health’s only residential aged care facility.
Our focus is on residents: ensuring they feel an ongoing sense of safety, support, engagement and, most importantly of all, homeliness.
The highest standards of care are maintained by our skilled and experienced team. While our staff at Grant Lodge hold nursing qualifications, we emphasise a homely, rather than clinical, atmosphere.
Social activities are a key part of the Grant Lodge lifestyle, with lunches out at the array of dining venues across our region a particular favourite of residents.
Other activities include gardening, and musical recitals performed by volunteers.
The involvement and contribution of residents’ families is central to the functioning of Grant Lodge – we welcome their visits and their active involvement.
Care at Grant Lodge is provided on both a permanent and respite basis.
Upgrade underway
With the support of the Victorian Government’s Health Building Authority (VHBA), Grant Lodge is currently undergoing an extensive upgrade, with an emphasis on private rooms, ensuite bathrooms, new furniture and fittings and enhanced shared spaces, including a new, welcoming, breakfast bar.
In addition to maintaining an emphasis on residents decorating their rooms in keeping with their own wishes, the refreshed design also focuses on improved dementia-friendly spaces, and on maintaining our already high infection control standards.
While work is underway, Grant Lodge continues to be home for 20 residents. Once completed, Grant Lodge will again be home to 30 residents.
Upgrade works are expected to conclude by the middle of 2026.
