The Department, with Intensive Care, employs three research officers and a research intern and is a significant contributor to a number of international multi-centre trials through collaborations with the ANZCA Clinical Trials Group and University of Melbourne. These include RELIEF, BALANCED, MUM-SIZE, METS
Areas of particular interest to the department are:
- Sustainability in health care
- Optimization of patients prior to surgery (smoking cessation, haematinic optimzation and "prehabilitation")
There is opportunity and support available to develop other local research ideas.
