Most skin cancers (Melanomas, Squamous cell carcinomas, Basal cell carcinomas) are treated surgically, and either done by our registrar in the Day Procedure clinic at Footscray Hospital on Friday mornings, or referred to the Western Health plastic surgery unit.
Precancerous lesions or early thin basal cell carcinomas can be treated by cryotherapy, topical chemotherapy or photodynamic treatment in our clinic.
We have close liaison also with the team who do superficial radiotherapy at Sunshine hospital; another possible treatment regime.
Referrers
Patients will need a referral from their GP or medical practitioner.
Referrers are requested to fax a referral. The clinic is an MBS clinic. More information about how to refer to Western Health is available here.
