How we support staff
The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) sits within the Medical Services Division and supports over 1,600 medical staff across Western Health, with:
- Recruitment and contracts
- Onboarding and orientation
- Rosters and rotation preferences
- Leave applications and cover
Timesheet and pay queries
MWU availability
The MWU is available weekdays from 8am to 4:30pm. For unexpected leave or rostering issues, contact the MWU on-call weekends between 7 am and 3:30 pm.
Outside these hours, contact the site after-hours coordinator and your clinical unit for unplanned leave or roster issues.
Medical education
MWU partners with the Medical Education team to provide joined‑up guidance and support for all junior medical staff. Together we aim to create a safe, efficient and educational work environment.
